Summer hockey open to all ID Hockey players who are registered with Hockey Ireland will run for 8 consecutive weeks in Newpark on Mondays from 6-7pm commencing June 10th and finishing July 29th.

All players must wear shin guards and a gum shield.
Hockey sticks will be provided if necessary.

Cost: €20 (free to Avoca All Stars).

Give Hockey A Go Boys

Avoca Hockey Club is running a FREE 4 week 'Give Hockey a Go' programme for 6-13 yr old boys. The course will consist of 4 weekly training sessions at Newpark Comprehensive School on Sunday afternoons from 4.30pm-5.30pm, starting on Sunday the 7th April 2024.

Hockey is a popular team sport which promotes both physical and mental health, with an emphasis on teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. It also encourages social interaction among peers, particularly teens. Our junior boys section is growing from strength to strength and the teams train every Sunday afternoon on a new state-of-the-art hockey pitch in Newpark.

The boys will need a mouth guard and shin pads. They are welcome to bring their own hockey stick, but we can provide one if needed. No previous hockey experience is required and beginners are very welcome.

Summer Hockey is back!

And it’s back in NEWPARK!!

Starts Thursday 2nd May until late July. About 10 weeks.

3 options:

1) Summer Hockey for players (over 16s to 100) Tuesday and Thursday 19:15 - 20:30

2) Over 35s/Social Hockey Fridays 19:15 to 20:30 ( you can also play on a Tuesday or Thursday too if you like)

3)Womens Vets Summer. Wednesdays 19:15 to 20:30. You can also join the other sessions.

Friday is Strictly o35 only.

€40 - Numbers are limited.

Parental advice for players 16/17 years old:

This is an informal fun hockey product. It is not training, nor a camp and parents must consent in sign up to the following:

You recognise that this is unsupervised adult hockey and you must be happy that your child is comfortable playing with adults of all ages and capability. You consent to your 16/17 year old taking part.

Players must behave in an adult manner - this is non competitive fun hockey and more capable players are generous with those who are developing or new.

The players must have their Hockey Ireland membership/insurance.

Any adverse behaviour will lead to dismissal.

Note: The Well Wishers in St Andrews is a separate summer club and does not cover this.

The Avoca Clinic Is Back For 2024… “Pick Up A Stick & Give Hockey A Go”…
-Since the beginning of GHAG over 250+ people gave hockey a go and joined this super new initiative… Now this invite is extended to you and it’s FREE…

If you played school or Club hockey back in the day or watch your children pitch-side over the weekend, or never played hockey and would love to “pick up a stick and give hockey a go” this is your opportunity! It’s open to everyone, Avoca Club Members and Non-Members. If you played Social Hockey or Vets 3’s Hockey, all are welcome…

It’s running over 4 weeks in Sion Hill at 7pm with qualified Coaches starting on the 2nd April… 9th, 16th & a fun blitz and bbq on the 23rd April..
